The 13th edition of the Genius Loci Weimar Festival returns in 2026 under the theme "Democracy and Society." From 11 to 13 September 2026, the festival will once again transform historic sites across Weimar into stages for international video mapping and immersive light art.

This year's edition explores the conditions of democratic coexistence, the role of media and communication in shaping society and the potential of art to open new perspectives on community, participation and dialogue. International artists engage with the history and architecture of selected locations, creating site-specific projection works developed especially for these unique spaces.

Three winning projects from the international competition will be presented on the façades of  the Temple of Nike, the House of the Weimar Republic and Schiller's House. The festival program is complemented by additional artistic formats that bring together light, architecture and social discourse.
