Thorsten Bauer

Thorsten Bauer is curator of the Genius Loci Talk. As a freelance media artist, creative director and co-founder of Urbanscreen GmbH Co Kg, he has won numerous international prizes and is considered one of the pioneers of projection mapping. The current focus of his work is the design of media facades and urban digitization processes.

Luba Elliott

Luba Elliott is a curator and researcher specializing in artificial intelligence in the creative industries. As curator, she has organized events, workshops and exhibitions about Art and AI for The Photographers' Gallery, Impakt Festival, the Leverhulme Centre for the Future of Intelligence and Google. Her recent projects include ART-AI Festival in Leicester and the online gallery

Tobias Wursthorn

Tobias Wursthorn is a media engineer and co-founder of Intermediate Engineering GmbH. As Technical Director, he supervises international media art installations as well as innovative solutions for industry, education and politics (Gasometer Oberhausen, Meyer Werft, Klubhaus St. Pauli and many more). As a freelance concept developer, he experiments with AI systems and explores their potential for various technical applications.

Florian Dohmann | Roman Lipski

Florian Dohmann is a computer scientist, expert in artificial intelligence, and at the same time part of the YQP collective from Berlin & New York as an artist, as well as founder and Chief Creative of the Berlin-based KI & consulting firm Birds on Mars. He moves somewhere between technology, business, art and science. Florian co-created the artificial muse that we will hear about in the lecture and has been developing it ever since together with his colleagues from Birds on Mars and Roman Lipski.


Roman Lipski is a painter living in Berlin. His art has been exhibited in internationally renowned museums such as the Nagoya/Boston Museum of Fine Arts in Japan and the National Art Museum of China. His works are represented in important collections, such as the Marx Collection at Hamburger Bahnhof Berlin, the Alex Katz Foundation in New York, and the collection of the Boston Museum of Fine Arts. In his current project Unfinished, Roman Lipski, in collaboration with YQP & Birds on Mars, is developing the first artificially intelligent muse for a creative artist.

Sofia Crespo

Sofia Crespo is a media and net artist. She uses artificial intelligence to create generative collages and illustrations. With her current project "Neural Zoo", new creatures that do not yet exist are created in a generation process. Solfia Crespo lives and works in Berlin.

Holger Volland

Holger Volland investigates the effects of digital technologies such as artificial intelligence on culture and creativity. Most recently, he published "Die kreative Macht der Maschinen" (Beltz, 2018) . Holger is Vice President of the Frankfurt Book Fair and founded the annual digital culture festival THE ARTS+ together with Christiane zu Salm. Prior to that, he worked in the management of agencies such as Pixelpark, Leipziger & Partner or Metadesign and curated exhibitions in Buenos Aires and Berlin.


Kathleen Schröter

Kathleen Schröter is responsible for the marketing activities at the Fraunhofer Heinrich Hertz Institute, specifically in the departments of Video Coding & Analytics, Vision & Imaging Technologies and Wireless Communications & Networks. This also encompasses the two marketing platforms '3IT - Innovation Center for Immersive Imaging Technologies' and 'CINIQ – Center for Data & Information Intelligence.
