The 11th Genius Loci Weimar Festival for Video Mapping and Media Architecture will take place from 30 August to 1 September 2024, the weekend of the Thuringian state elections. This year the event will take place at the Buchenwald Memorial, one of Weimar's most internationally recognised sites. The memorial was built in 1958 by the former GDR government as a cemetery on the Ettersberg, visible from afar.

The audio, light and video installations show the architecture and objects of the memorial, which was built in 1958 as a national monument of the GDR on the southern slope of the Ettersberg on the ring graves of the Buchenwald concentration camp.

The design of the displays emphasises both the presentation of the elements and the memory of the individuals commemorated here. The aim is to promote respectful and lasting remembrance.
