The Genius Loci Weimar projection festival in Weimar is launching its second video mapping competition. From 31st January to 15th April 2013, designers, architects and all interested artists are welcome to apply individually or in groups with innovative and creative ideas for three historical buildings` facades in Weimar:
(Wittumspalais, Residenzschloss, Bauhaus University main building)

These three locations will be part of a night parcour inviting a wide audience on a summer weekend to enjoy a new and fascinating young art genre and its artists. The festival also includes a symposium, exhibitions and club events. The best concepts will be presented during an exhibition starting from Mai 2013, to provide an insight on their creations to an interested audience.

Out of these selected artworks the Jury will announce 3 prize winners. Each winner will be awarded with a prize money of 15.000 Euros, which has to be used to realize the final projection for the festival. Whereas the organizers provide all necessary technique and accommodation, the artist has to pay all travel costs.

The Genius Loci Weimar projection-festival in Weimar will be held from the 5th to 11th August 2013 in cooperation with Bauhaus University Weimar. Besides students, invited are media artists and designers, art-, culture-, architecture-theorists and practitioners.

The main objectives of the video projections are:

- To find new innovative ways to combine the history and architecture of the chosen place
with the new art genre of video mapping.

- To encourage an individual intercourse with the spirit of the place and its architecture
without drifting into clichés and erratic claptrap

- To create a 30 sec clip which clearly shows the concept and the phases of the the design.

- To show the ability of producing the planned design within a time frame of 2 months,
including 10 days of technical setting and installation prior to the beginning of the festival.

The winning projects will receive a draft agreement to complete their planned projections
for the Genius Loci Weimar projection-festival 2013.
